Parking in Trogir: Where to Park Near the Old Town

The old town is car-free, so everyone parks just outside and walks in. Here's where the official car parks actually are, which one to aim for, and how to skip the summer circling.

Quick answer
Best for most visitors
T1 Travarica or T2 Put Kapelice
Closest for a short stop
Fortin
Best backup in summer
T4 Brigi

Our honest advice in one line: park on the mainland side before the old town rather than driving around the narrow streets or hunting for a last-minute space on Čiovo. None of these lots is guaranteed to have space — in July and August, arrive early.

The five car parks, on the map

All five official public lots sit on the mainland side (Fortin right by the old town). Tap a pin to jump to its details — each section has a Google Maps button for navigation.

Tap a pin to jump to that car park — the buttons below open Google Maps for turn-by-turn navigation. We can't promise live availability; in summer, go early.

The five, one by one

All run by the town's operator, Trogir Holding. Tariffs are posted at the machines and change from season to season, so we don't quote prices here — check on the day.

1 · Parking Fortin

Right by the old town · ≈ 2 min walk · open 24/7, year-round

Best for: a short stop — luggage drop-off, pick-up, or a quick errand in town.

The closest option — but not the one I'd choose for a long day in town. Fortin sits practically at the north-west corner of the old town, by the sports pitch near Kamerlengo fortress, and its convenience is priced accordingly. The first 20 minutes are free, which makes it perfect for dropping bags at an old-town apartment, and the machine takes cards as well as cash.

Being the closest, it also fills first. If you're staying for the day, park at T1 or T2 instead and enjoy the extra coffee money.

2 · Parking T1 Travarica

Mainland, west of the bridge · ≈ 5 min walk · open 24/7, year-round

Best for: most visitors spending a half or full day in the old town.

A practical default choice for most visitors. T1 is a barrier-controlled lot along the main road just west of the bridge, an easy flat walk from the old town. The first 10 minutes are free, and the machines take coins, notes and cards. Part of the lot is reserved for old-town residents, so don't count on every marked space being available to visitors.

3 · Parking T2 Put Kapelice

Mainland, up from the seafront · ≈ 6 min walk · open 24/7, year-round

Best for: a solid alternative when the spaces nearer the bridge are taken.

A useful alternative when the more central options are busy. T2 lines both sides of the Put Kapelice street a few minutes uphill from the water, and the walk down to the bridge is short and simple. The first 10 minutes are free; the operator lists the machines here as taking coins and notes, so keep some cash handy.

4 · Parking T4 Brigi

Mainland, north-east · ≈ 7 min walk · seasonal: 15 April – 31 October

Best for: summer days when everything closer is already full.

Worth checking in summer when parking closer to the old town is already full. Brigi is the big seasonal lot north-east of the centre — it's also where the coaches go, so there's usually more room to manoeuvre. The first 10 minutes are free, and the walk in is a touch longer but straightforward. If you're arriving from the Split direction, it also lets you skip the seafront traffic entirely.

5 · Parking T3 Put Mulina

Mainland, further north · ≈ 9 min walk

Best for: a reserve option on the busiest days.

An open lot further up in the newer part of town. It's the longest walk of the five, so we wouldn't aim for it first — but on the busiest days it's often where a space is still waiting, and the stroll down to the bridge is downhill all the way.

FAQ

Parking in Trogir — common questions

Can you drive into Trogir old town?

No — the historic island is essentially pedestrian. Park at one of the official car parks and walk in over the bridge; from the closest lots it's only a few minutes on foot.

Where is the best place to park?

For most visitors, T1 Travarica or T2 Put Kapelice. Fortin is the closest for a brief stop, and the seasonal T4 Brigi is the useful backup in summer.

Is parking in Trogir free?

No — the public lots are paid, run by Trogir Holding, with the first few minutes free for drop-offs. Tariffs are posted at the machines and change from season to season, so check on the day.

How hard is parking in summer?

In July and August the closest lots fill early. Arrive before late morning, or head straight for T4 Brigi rather than circling the centre.
